Bath Road Clean Up

The hotels at Heathrow were out in force Plogging today as part of the Great British Spring Clean campaign from Keep Britain Tidy.  Eager volunteers from the London Heathrow Marriott, Sheraton Skyline, Sheraton Heathrow and Heathrow Windsor Marriott walked the length of Bath Road starting at Sheraton Heathrow and finishing at the London Heathrow Marriott collecting litter along the way. They were joined by Clean Up Hounslow a volunteer organisation and together the team of 31 volunteers collected over 50 bags of rubbish along the 6.4 mile stretch of Bath Road from Hounslow to Harmondsworth. After their busy morning, the team were treated to a delicious roof top lunch prepared by the London Heathrow Marriott.

1. Review clean up & walk with MP day : moving forward  – what exactly can we expect MP to influence in her own capacity’ – such as crime prevention by visible police presence in Borough – currently not to be seen anywhere?
2.  The councillor names/duties who are  directly in charge of Borough Wards & discuss how to make them aware of their responsibilities and existence of our group (ref : very useful information in Richard’s email- I did not know any of these),    include names , contacts on website?
3. This website – Ideas or suggestions?
4. Main discussion – discuss agenda/ time for Steve Curran meeting : examples – below suggestions for Steve/ council to :
i. display crime prevention type signpostings in hot spots and around  chicken/fast food/grocer shops, etc

iii. Make councillors take direct ownership of clean Hounslow agenda in their individual wards
iv. Educational Campaign  for responsible disposal of litters for an environmentally friendly Borough – targeting  tenants, owners, Businesses. Approach local Schools
v. Consider -persistent  over litter of some households/roads – if  indicator of overcrowding/unaccounted residents in the Borough – how to ?
vi. discuss disparity in standard of cleansiness and road maintenance around the Borough  – one affects the other.
vii. Seek Help  for T shirts, flyers for Group
viii.  Hold high profile , all inclusive clean up Hounslow campaign at High street in front of Treaty Centre –  a week or two  before Christmas – at the height of shoppers/businesses day – invite councillors/MPs  be present
Any Other suggestions

World Clean Up Day

Clean Up DaYWe started at the site of the new Civic Centre near Bell Corner/Bath Road in Hounslow. We walked through to Cranford, picking up several bags of rubbish along the way. Some of the group started out from here, and a few other people joined us along the way. Clean Up Day

It is sad, but not really surprising how much rubbish is thrown about. Much of it is the invariably single-use packaging that accompanies fast food, but cigarette packets and particularly cigarette butts play a huge part in the amount of discarded and unsightly litter.

Clean Up Day

Grass verges along many areas of the Bath Road were unsightly, particularly around bus stops and near some fast food stores.

World Clean Up Day

15th September 2018

We will be starting in Hounslow, and walking along Bath Road to Marriot Hotel, arriving between 12.30-1pm, picking up litter along the way.

Drinks and snacks will be kindly provided by the Marriot Hotel’s General Manager, Mr. Ros Von.

Let’s have a good turn out, make this a useful and memorable day, and be proud of achieving a good result, and also a good get-together.

The more the merrier – tell your friends and neighbours.
