WEEDING DAY –
Friday 26 Nov.21
…….. get the residents to clear the weeds in their streets . They are encouraged to assist eldery, disabled Neighbours and so forth ……..
Cleanuphounslow members attended a pre station/ meeting , on Thursday 7 October 21 by Hounslow Highways at Hounslow House Council Offices .
HH mentioned the they were extremely concerned and aware of the weeds all over Hounslow and probably all over UK . They are restricted to use toxic weed killer.
They are overstretched, have employed extra staff and also have done weed clearing in some areas that were shown to senior management with a walk about in some streets by DBBS residents association and Cleanuphounslow. They were also shown flytipping hotspots . Cleanuphounslow and DBBS Residents Association were very grateful for what Hounslow Highways did .
So, here we are – WEEDING DAY is born . Mark your Calandar’s 26 November 21.
Let’s start planning .

A litter pick carried out on Friday 11 June at 5:30 pm by several local councillors, Seema Malhotra MP and Clean-Up Hounslow team members. We also had some new team members and a young lady Elo, all the way from Wembley.
This is what she said. “Thanks so much, everyone! Was so worth the long journey!”
We found some flytipping hotspots, spoke to residents, some drivers clapped their hands to show their appreciation.
At the start of our litter pick at Sainsbury’s Local, we found much litter within the entrance to the store and in their front yard including their car park. Team members called the Manager outside and pointed out and showed him the rubbish. What a shame on Sainsbury’s.
A further update will be posted .
Our sincere thanks to all the persons who attended.
Thanks to Linda and Mike for those treats at Mimi’s coffee lounge.
A very successful day today
As mentioned at the last Saturday’s clean up I shall be taking part again on Friday 11th. Although we were in a small group including volunteers and our dedicated councillor partner Richard Eason doggedly pursuing an activity that was good for the social health of our community, last Saturday’s clean up again was educational and gave me an immense satisfaction for doing something no one had forced upon me or for no personal gain other than for a collective general wellbeing of the community that we are part of. As always we picked up numerous bottles and cans , callously discarded masks, rotten unidentifiable rubbish and food boxes strewn across greens ,ruthlessly dumped domestic rubbish around bus stops and roadside bins. Thoughts crisscrossed my mind – what exactly make some behave in such manner? How long can only few of us continue cleaning up rubbish as we pass through spring clean and summer clean seasons whilst most feel at liberty to litter so callously ! but is there no other way for the council and its people such as Schools, businesses, tax and non taxpayers both alike come together so that such ignorant behaviour finds no place here in Hounslow just as in so many sparkling clean Boroughs in and around London? Are we here in Hounslow too soft a touch and too afraid to bring some discipline into our living environment and into our town? Where are those live cameras (and not a dummy ones) around all rubbish spots by the Schools, chicken shops and bus stops and real penalties such as community cleaning? Two council Wardens standing by the Hounslow station simply looked helpless and ineffective that day. This probably is a consideration for much wiser ones at the Council and with legislative support by the central. In the mean time I wish all those taking part this week a very worthwhile Saturday – I felt good at the end of it last Saturday and I wish you all the same this week.
Regards
